Starting an Army couple of questions

Postby Austinman42 » Thu Jul 14, 2016 7:21 pm

Hi everybody I've recently gotten into Warhammer and I have a few questions. I'm fairly new to the game but I've played a few battles with my friend's armies so I've got the basics of that down.

But my question is now that I'm building my own army I can't seem to figure out how to use some allied detachments. I have a Ghostkeel model that I want to add to my army of grey Knights but I know being a different faction there are some rules I have to follow. All I want to know is what is the least amount of Tau I will need in order to still run the Ghostkeel.

Different models/units can only be used in specific armies. So a Ghostkeel must go in a Tau detachment, and not in a Grey Knights one.
In theory, you could use an Allied Detachment if your Grey Knights are your Primary. Then your minimum requirement would be one HQ unit and one Troops unit.
Your other options are:
Heavy Retribution Cadre (requires 2 additional Stormsurges)
Optimised Stealth Cadre (requires to additional units of Stealth Battlesuits)

Worth noting that Imperial and Tau are "Desperate Allies", so don't work very well together at all.
How many Space Marines does it take to change a lightbulb?
None. Such is the work of the tech-priests.
