Referees required for ETC 2016

Postby Skcuzzlebumm » Mon Feb 01, 2016 9:13 pm

Hello everyone

It is that time of year again and we, the ETC organisers and chairman, are putting the call out for anyone interested in being one of this years referees to step forwards and let themselves be known.

As we all know, having both a quantity and quality of referees is fundamental to ensure that gaming at the ETC goes as smoothly as possible. It is not just a free holiday but a real job that requires a lot of work and commitment on the part of the referees. As ever we are looking to draw on the pool of current, previous, or maybe even future, ETC players from all nations to ensure we have both an abundance of warm bodies on the floor, and the diversity of nations to ensure the referee corps represents the ETC as a whole. It is preferable that referees have ETC gaming experience, however players that have extensive tournament experience within their respective community will also be welcome to apply.

Obviously being a referee does require that a person gives up the opportunity to play at the ETC, but speaking from personal experience after 2 years I can say the experience is well worth it. Plus to help things along, cost dependent, the ETC is often able to assist referees with the financial costs of travelling to the event and accommodation for its duration.

So please spread the word amongst your respective communities and get back in touch with me if you, or someone you know, feels up to the challenge of being part of 2016s referee corps.

Stay frosty!

It may seem like a little topic necromancy, but in fact, I have an important information in this regard.

Just letting you know that Krzysztof Piszcz from Poland is highly interested in beeing an X-wing judge. As far as I know, he was at first assigned to Warhammer 40k, but due to a very productive Store season for himself, he expressed that he would rather judge X-wing event, since he have really high knowledge of the game mechanics and current competitive enviroment (such as rules documents, FAQ, cards interactions). I highly reccomend considering him at that position.

I'd also like to offer my services as a judge, since it looks like there will not be a Dutch team coming.
I have organized and judged multiple X-Wing events in the Netherlands, including 2 regionals and multiple store championships.
