Hi guys
The rules comitee for fow 2018 has been put together
The purpose og the group is to fit ETC into the V.4 FOW rules
There are some issues that we are Aware Of that we need to adress, but some topics might not have Seen yet by the 7 members Of the comitee.
Therefore...

If you have found some issues that needs adressing, that might Prove a problem with V.4 and ETC please post Them here so that the comitee Can become Aware Of the issues.

-This is not a discusion about flaws in the V.4 rules... only things that needs be adressed in Regards to ETC

Having run a decent sized V4 comp now I think we should adopt and use the new victory conditions, they just work a lot better and are more results driven...really takes away the camping ability finally...50% 8:1 results and only 12% draws is a pretty good outcome.

We might also want to consider switching to little points as the primary and win/draw/lose as the tie breaker?

On the same line...we should look seriously as an option if the new Battle Plan charts are actually a better way to go and instead of creating a whole lot of rules and stress over what types of lists can be taken, what is the primary formation of a list etc and what missions are we going to play. We should at least consider breaking out of the box altogether. For example we could simply assign each team with locked Battle Plan choices of 2 Attack, 2 Maneuverer and 2 Defend cards each round they have to assign to their lists in that round (so can vary from round to round). The Battle plan are then put down the same time as the lists are matched (so a double blind) and the missions are then rolled between matched up players from the Battle Plan chart. Should be fun:-)

Lists themselves, no two formations of the same name? No more than 2 lists from any 1 nationality. Would that resolve any double up issues? What are the issues doing it this way?

For 2018, I think we should keep things close to what we've used in the past. Just one formation so we can maintain the 2 each of infantry, mech and tank armies. While multiple formations would give the metagame another shake up, I don't think it's necessary and it adds a lot of complications.

Back this, v4 EW is anyway a compromise, so why not make 2018 and adaptive period?
But the idea to use battle plans as a method of determining atacker looks intriguing

Given the issues with the rules and Mach up process we could do a hybrid Wicca we know works. Keep the V3 match up way (inf tank etc). And set missions so everyone plays th4 same. It’s a long way to go for potentially I similar games it’s the battle plan system.

To do this you could limit to 1 formation or if using more than 1 the one with the most points is what you count as. Eg if you have 1000 pt tank and 650 inf then you are a tank army. Auto attack and defend would only count if in your primary formation.

Could I also suggest that if using battle-land them the fort needs to be looked at (in my suggested system any fort would need to make you auto defend). The reason it needs to be looked at as that it can now make you a very aggressive attacker when really it’s designed to be a defensive force. You could now be the attack4r if you choose the right stance and teleport all your forces to the edge of the enemy deployment and get 1st go....

Something from my side for the committee to consider regarding list composition , missions etc.

I realise all of these have a direct influence on each other and should be considered as a package.

Thus my proposal :

Only one formation lists
Six nations (no two soviet lists)
no restriction on amount of tank , infantry or mech lists.
Pre decided missions two from each group of mission types.
Each round each team have two attack ,two maneuvre , two defense battle plan cards to attach to lists prior to pairing.
attack plan attacks against other two , defend plan defends against other two.
Same battle plan - dice roll determine attacker.
Forts always have to choose defend battle plan.

I believe this will allow for teams to choose interesting combinations (even the possibility of six tank lists or six infantry lists)
The battle plan system combined with the pairing process will give everybody enough to think about.

I know that you have discussed most of this already.

I also will not be offended if you decide differently :D
