The Annual London Team Tournament - December 3rd, 2016

Postby Dr Norbert » Sun Oct 09, 2016 1:11 pm

The Cross Gaming Club in association with Dark Sphere presents:

THE ANNUAL LONDON TEAM TOURNAMENT
Saturday 3rd December, 2016

Tickets may be purchased here: http://www.darksphere.co.uk/p.php?p=73165
Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/788981891241783/

Prepare yourselves for the fourth annual Warmachine and Hordes London Team Tournament, returning to the calendar like a rampaging Dire Troll! This is your chance to compete in the most competitive Warmachine-meta in the UK.* It is also your chance to see Norbert mercilessly make Tom take a selfie with him. And post it publicly!

Up to 16 teams of three players will take part in a standard Steamroller style tournament lasting up to four rounds. A ticket to this event is for a three player team, and players do not need to purchase their tickets individually. Each team has a nominated captain who is responsible for filling out paperwork and ensuring data is entered correctly. It is recommended that the captain buy the team's ticket.

Team captains must submit all 6 lists for their team by Sunday the 20th of November at midnight to ensure they are correct and to allow us to publish them in advance to encourage inter-team rivalry, gentle ribbing, and outright rudeness. Lists must be submitted to tournaments@crossgamingclub.com. Please submit all lists all in the same email using the Steamroller PDFs found here: http://tinyurl.com/SRsheets ...as it will make our lives much easier when checking them; and yours much easier when filling them out. Please ensure that team names are included in the player name section alongside the player's actual name.

On the day, registration is from 8 am, dice fly by 9 am the latest and we should be done by 8pm. There will be a lunch break between rounds 2 and 3. We usually go for a traditional curry after the event.

The games will be played using the Deathclock timing variant, as per the Steamroller pack. Each player must bring two 75 point lists. Warcasters and Warlocks may not be repeated across a team.

PAIRING RULES
A player matching system is used for this event, essentially forming a mini-game before the games begin, inspired by the Heavy Metal Dayz Matching system.

For the purpose of the pairing process, Team A and Team B exist. Team A is the team that is located on the left side of the pairing table, Team B is on the right side. Every team gets a card for every player on their team. One table row has 3 individual tables. Please note that all 3 tables play the same scenario. Team captains meet on one side of the table row - where the table numbers are located. Terrain is already set on those tables, but can be corrected if needed.

Team A puts their first player on the left table in the row. The card is to be put face down on the table. Team B will put its first player on the right table; the card needs to be face down as well. Example: Team Poignant Savant puts "Deno" at the left table. Team Kartoffel puts "Alex" at the right table. Cards will be turned simultaneously and will show the players at those tables.

After that each team hands the cards they have left to the opposing team. Example: Team Poignant Savant gets handed the cards for "Frank" and "Tim". They hand over their cards "Moops" and "Ben" to Team Kartoffel. Now the teams pick up those cards and choose a player to pair with the one already on the table, face down. The remaining card will be put onto the middle table, face down. Example: Team Poignant Savant decides that "Deno" will face "Tim". That means "Frank" will be playing on the middle table. Those 4 cards will be turned simultaneously and will reveal the pairings on the different tables. Example: "Deno" will play "Tim", just like Team Poignant Savant chose. Team Kartoffel chooses "Ben" as the opponent for "Alex". When the cards are turned it is revealed that "Frank" will play "Moops".

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask! The easiest way to get hold of the event organisers (Tom Hutchings and Norbert Brunhuber) is via the Cross Gaming Club forums (http://www.crossgamingclub.com/forum) or the Cross Gaming Club Facebook page (facebook.com/crossgc), where we'll endeavour to answer your questions as quickly as we can.

Hello Norbert. I moved recently to southend, and I was wondering if I could join this event as a single to group up with other players? Should I come to a gaming day to meet some people?

Let me know,

Thanks!

Hello!

And thanks for your interest in the event. We unfortunately can't accept single players to sign up and hope for a team, because it will likely end in disappointment. Your goal should be try and find a team to create or join. I'd recommend you post up in the Warmachine & Hordes UK facebook group. Or else ask in the Dark Sphere forums, or at the Cross Gaming Club forums for people looking to form a team.

If you'd like to come up and meet some folks, then please do! Dark Sphere's group meets on Mondays, I believe. The Cross Gaming Club meets up every Tuesday and Thursday. Feel free to post on our forums or facebook group to make arrangements. We'd love to see you.

Hope this helps get you started.

Followed the linky to the fillable 2015 SR sheet.

Adobe is telling me I need to 'sign' it to type in date. Fine. But when done and I come to save it, it simply says it can only save a blank copy and I will lose my typed info...

OK found the fix myself.

Adobe Reader X is a PITA, and won't allow changes to be saved locally.

I upgraded to v. XI, and was able to save the files locally...

Roll on the tournament!
