Users selling services/commissions- Read now or weep later.

Postby Vincent of Vega » Sat Nov 05, 2011 11:25 pm

The rules of this forum quite clearly state that you are NOT allowed to use any section of the forum to advertise any business related ventures, e.g painting services.

If I see or have reported to me any posts of this nature I may simply delete your account and ban your username/e-mail. I simply don't have time to discuss it.

Just don't do it.

Missed this message? Too bad.

Are professional painters allowed to sell their finished models in here? How do you differentiate from people who make money from painting?

If I sell on a pro painted model that I didn't paint myself is that allowed?

I think the rule is a little confusing. Can people commission painters on this forum?

So I can put eBay links in the market forum but I can't actually write a post saying I do commissions or have it in my signature like I did previously?

I dont think its confusing.

You are not allowed to Advertise on the Forum as a Commission Painter or a business that does commission work or an individual that does commission work.

You may sell models you have painted in the Market section same as everyone else does.

I would also assume putting that kind of advert in your Signature constitutes advertising yourself or others as Commission painters.

I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come."

But there's loads of people who have signatures with commission adverts in and nothing's been done about it before.

Also people post threads in The Glass Cabinet showing their commission work so surely that is advertising their services too?

I think there needs to be a definitive answer covering several points on this from the moderators.

I think the fact everyone has been told not to do it is reason enough.
No one has a right to ask for clarifictation.
The owners of the forum have brought this rule in for a good reason. (they dont need to tell anyone why)
Glass Cabinet etc. The person showing the model quite simply states. "I painted this".

Yes but loads of people have commission based signatures on this forum which to me would be advertising painting services. But they aren't stopping people doing that so that makes it seem like it's ok to do it.

Right guys , got some clarification for you.

Advertising painting services in your sig is not allowed. Anyone found with this will be asked to remove it.

Members may ask other members about commision painting but via pm please. However asking for someone to paint their models is ok but replies must be via pm.

Pro painters selling their models in the market is fine , as long as the res no blatant advertisement of commision painting in their post.

Cheers

I'm starting to get annoyed. I get asked to remove my commission based signature. Unhelig,Lilloser10, wickedcarrot, alexheap and walex still have theirs up, and Byron had his removed and now he has put it back on. We need some consistency in this forum before we start loosing users.

Can I reapply my signature?

There's a big list of people with similar signatures that are still like it. Yeah I was surprised to see Byrons sig back to offering commissions, I wonder what will be done about it.

I'd have rather that someone here had just PM'd me if they'd has issues! The reason it reappeared was that I've recently changed where I host my pictures, so I just went across all of my signatures on various forums and updated them; being my forgetful self I wondered why I hadn't mentioned my painting and put it in there. Genuine mistake, I'm not out to ruffle feathers, just have a memory like a sieve where forums are concerned, I post on far too many. If someone had messaged me it would've been sorted as soon as it was noticed.

It's resorted now, apologies to all whom it has offended, given this I shouldn't forget in future!

Just as a note I notice people posting in the class cabinet with a title indicating that it is a comission...isn't this indirectly advertising that they indeed do comissions. It isn't a big deal, but wasn't sure if it was being done intentionally to skirt these forum rules.

There's so many people doing it or similar. The rules don't seem to be enforced as much these days.

Nope. Still got Sunfalcon and White Lion with their signatures saying they do commissions. I actually PM'd White Lion and he told me where to go. Sunfalcon's signature text is in massive font size too!

Elford, saying I told you where to go paints an unfairly negative picture. I never used such a negative tone. It's really not cool to pm somebody and then moan about the conversation 'in public'.

Obviously the issue needed clarification which is why this thread exists.
I have never been on the market forum, so I had not seen it. Nor did you point it out to me when I questioned you. Having not been contacted by the moderators, I was not about to change my signature on the say so of a random member, who has the name of his painting business as his forum name! ;)

The mods have contacted me and pointed out this thread, sig is now changed!

It might be useful to get an approved format for what can and can't be said/linked/etc. in posts and in sigs. That way everyone can be on the same level ground and no one has to wonder whether they're following the right dance steps.
