Accumulating all the fantasy rulesets.

Postby matthcnet » Sun Aug 30, 2015 10:38 am

I want to draw people's attention to a couple of things.

If you know about a different house rule set, or other project being worked on, link it here with a simple description.
This would give some crossover from warseer, warhammer org uk, and any other forum sites.

With AoS coming in, everyone is doing their own thing. I think that's a good idea to see such a large variety of people pitching in creative effort
but it will quickly get to the stage where we have 4-5-6+ projects that all cover the same material and rules.

This thread is simply a bulletin board of accumulated house rules and projects to show people what else is out there.
This'll be the easiest way to keep everyone up to date with everyone else.

At the end of the day, even if everyone has their own version: There will be as few different game editions as possible,
and each game edition will be as polished and refined and worked on as possible.

It is more simple to create a subforum for a version mainly discussed and developed here on TWF (like for 9th Age) and only in case a project has a PDF with all things needed (no early stage documents) to play with made a sticky thread for in the WFB section.

Collecting all projects (only english?) or partly connected projects (like only for one army or fanmade supplements for 8th edition) is too much in my opinion.

It's a bit puzzling now but the most active projects (attentionwise or with a vital PDF) will stay and other projects not able to get that much attention or creating a PDF on a higher level of development may fade away.

Something like a goldrush now, me think, for creative players/rule developers. Nothing wrong with that. Hopefully this period creates 2-4 very good living rulebooks, all depends on support and activity over a longer period in a constructive atmosphere.

Just my 2 Cent.

Cheers

Your right, the simple pure point of this thread, is simply to create awareness of everyone in a simplified central format.
This way the obscure people doing all their house rules will see all the biggest projects, and all the big projects can see small ones.

Ideally, we'd take out all the duplication and excess complication
Then merge all the creative, balanced, and effective polished refinements.

I have no social media, and refuse to use it for personal reasons and principles despite the advantages. Therefore anything posted on social media does not reach me.

Excellent initiative! Regardless of the outcome of the various project it's very good to have a place where you can find information about them all. I didn't even know about a few of the entries on the list.

Does anyone know if there's a new ruleset released/WIP that intends to add models released through AoS (including an armybook for Stormcasts)?

AFAIK none of them! However nothing to stop you adding your own rules for this to happen!

I think the this is a great initiative as its getting confusing keeping track of the options. K owing what's out there helps keep the community together.

If you are going to deride GW for valuing their wallet over what's good for the hobby then it's pretty hypocritical to be buying on the internet and playing in your friendly local gaming store.

I'd post on wargamerau too, but having just made an account I don't have permission or something like that.

Next rules project please!

The Bretonnian army book is probably the best Bret update so far, building on the previous books and WH FRPG. The alternative armies are really well done too.

Hi, because there is confusion with EEFL:

The Eighth Edition For Life Warhammer Forum is dedicated to the 8th edition of Warhammer Fantasy Battles. While GW has launched a new era for Warhammer with the Age of Sigmar, this forum is for those in our hobby community who wish to continue playing WFB 8th edition – either exclusively or along side the new Age of Sigmar.

Many WFB players have divided into factions in order to create Warhammer Fantasy 8.1 or 8.5 or 9 edition. The Eighth Edition For Live community to dedicated to preserving the 8th edition rules set. As wargamers we all have thoughts about how to alter or tweak the main ruleset, but the Eighth Edition For Life players recognize that such alterations could merely do further harm to the 8th edition community. Our intend is to continue to play Eighth Edition as is, while building new expansions for the game.

In addition to various 8th edition Warhammer discussions, from rules questions to army list building to painting projects and so on, the EEFL (Eighth Edition For Life) community on this forum also seeks to create new army books and expansions, such as the Indy GT Dwarfs of Chaos army book and the Warhammer: GROM End Times expansion.

Hi, then i suggest you find Furion's work:
viewforum.php?f=106

He's doing the exact same thing, but he's going over the tournaments from the past and looking at a comprehensive list of armies taken to tournaments etc.
Basically trying to balance all the armies on their own merits without adding anything new, by buffing underused units and nerfing overused/abused units.
Would be a good foundation for EEFL.

That's the 8.1 version of Skaven. It has the GW errata added in to it.

Have folks tried out these rules and/or army books?

IF so, how do they like them?

Thanks!

@AEON: If you see this, I second Bugman's request; also, does anyone have an equivalent thing for Empire, or Orcs and Goblins? Failing that, does anyone have the last version of the 8th Ed., and End Times Erratas, before they were removed from the GW site...?
