So, the question is then do you wanna learn how to "play like you have a pair"?

With the ever increasing popularity and all round interest in the goodness that comes from the minds of those who occupy the Privateer Press building. We have decided to make it as easy as possible for people to start playing Hordes and Warmachine.

To that end, we offer an open invitation to any and all who want to learn, to come into the venue for demo games. We have plenty of armies available for people to use and plenty of times available for running demo games. You can either come into the store during our normal working hours - 9.00am until 6.00pm Monday to Sunday, or you can attend one of our Tuesday or Thursday open club nights which run 6.00pm until around 11.00pm.

On the club nights we already get a healthy number of players of all skill levels, all of whom are more than eager to help get new players started. At the moment we have varying groups of people who are getting ready for events such as our next 35pt Blood & Iron tournament next month, or the 50pt Masters in June and the 50pt team event in July.

For those who are interested and fancy a trip down to see us at "The Eye of The Storm" here in Mansfield, this is a breakdown of what is happening so far this year;-

Every Tuesday and Thursday evening is an open club night. Admittance is free and there are no charges for gaming. The retail store is open throughout the evening, as is our bar. Hot & cold drinks, soft drinks, alcohol, potato snacks and confectionery available during the evening. If you want to arrange a game in advance check out our "Meets" forum - http://events.maelstromgames.co.uk/punb ... m.php?id=3

On April 18th Nathan Hoole is running a one day Hordes and Warmachine tournament which is designed to give new players a taste of just exactly how much fun can be had at these events. More information can be found in this discussion thread;- viewtopic.php?f=22&t=69088 - and tickets can be bought here;- http://www.maelstromgames.co.uk/index.p ... aw_001_000

Nathan is well known on the tourney circuit and imo is one of the best guys out there to catch up with for introductory games on a club night. This event of his will be great for first timers.

The following weekend, April 24th & 25th, we are holding our second Blood & Iron event. Entitled "Savage Skies II", in this you will use only warlocks and beasts or warcasters and jacks. No solos, no units. It is a great entry level tournament system as you don't have too many models to paint, and you have less units to get to grips with whilst you are learning the game. The Blood & Iron format is a personal favourite of mine as it really is tons of fun. The competition is designed for you to get stuck in, chuck some dice around and have a great laugh.

More details and tickets can be found here;- http://www.maelstromgames.co.uk/index.p ... aw_003_000

The official Privateer Press Hordes and Warmachine European Team Challenge is being held here over the weekend of July 3rd and 4th. This is an excellent way for new players to experience tournament play from a team perspective. More details can be found here;- http://events.maelstromgames.co.uk/punb ... m.php?id=9

Details of more events can be found on our forums here;- http://events.maelstromgames.co.uk/punb ... m.php?id=1

For those who have never experienced a Hordes and Warmachine tournament, I can say from personal experience that they are tons of fun. I went to the UK Masters last year after only having played 6 games in the lead up to the event. I was a total noob and kinda nervous, but the community embraced my uselessness and helped ensure I had an enjoyable event whilst learning tons of stuff along the way. Since that time I haven't looked back. In my experience I have found the community to be very welcoming to new players, so I would encourage anyone who is considering taking part to do so!

That experience is what we bring to you here in our venue. We want to help people learn the game and get to experience the tournament scene. So if you want to come see us for a demo game, either call the retail store on 01623 238919, or put up a post here;- http://events.maelstromgames.co.uk/punb ... m.php?id=8 - we will be only too happy to help you out. After your demo we can talk to you about the various factions living in the Iron Kingdoms, and help you to choose your army. We can advise on what you should consider buying first and also hook you up with some follow up games so you can get into playing as quickly as possible.

Everyone is welcome!
