Ok everyone,

Here is the final product of over 10 months work, countless hours of testing and advice from the superb Hordes & Warmachine community.

The Official European Hordes and Warmachine Team Challenge, takes place on July 3rd & 4th 2010, at “The Eye of The Storm”, Maelstrom Games, Mansfield.

This event has been sanctioned by Privateer Press as their official team event for Europe and there will be far more coverage by Privateer Press on this matter very soon....

The event brings teams of 4 players working together to compete for the title of 2010 Hordes and Warmachine European Team Champions. Each member of your team plays 5 games over the weekend and at the end of each game the scores are added together to get a ‘team’ score. Teams then get drawn against each other using the Swiss system.

The rulespack will follow very shortly in its final form and has been handled by ourselves at Team Octopii with select input from some of the most experienced and established players within our community.

The tournament is open to teams from all over Europe and is expected to be hotly contested as teams battle it out to see exactly who does “have a pair!”

There are tons of fantastic prize support throughout this event and Privateer Press themselves are providing some really cool and unique for the winners.

More details will unfold as the weeks pass by, in the meantime follow the links on the Maelstrom site to get your team tickets. They are on sale from today, Friday March 5th - first batch is of 100 tickets which could increase as a large chunk of these have already been pre-sold!

Please NOTE: Tickets are purchased individually at £30 per person, so make sure you put in your Team Name upon purchase. Every member of your team must have a ticket (so 4 total tickets). If you need more players for your team, please check out the thread link below to find player(s) to attend the event with!

Sounds ace mate!

As you know I am pretty much there.

I've had a look on maelstrom though and can't see the tickets up there... Any idea of what the cost per person is going to be?

Also have you got any info on local hotels?

Hi matey

Tickets should go up anytime today along with a newspost on their main website.

Prices are £30 per player so standard Maelstrom weekend prices. I would personally recommend the pine lodge, very close, cheap and a great breakfast.

Just to let you all know Team Sexy, Hairy, Hat and Posh will definitely be in attendance.

Cheers

Remember Gorbad if you cant find a team with anyone you know you can search on the Maelstrom Forum for teams and players.

Main points/rules so you can start constructing lists are:

4 Player Team event, each player brings 1 list at the 50 pt level.

Each team will be matched firstly vs other teams dependant on scores, then each member of a team will be matched with their 'equal' - i.e. the top player of team A will play the top player of team B. We have dubbed this 'mini swiss' system.

There is a 'team feat' a real life ability once per tournament to choose who in your team gets to play who in the opponents team (so you could put your best vs their worst). If both players feat (which is done in secret) then it cancels each other out :P

Army construction follows these basic rules:

50pt list
You can ONLY use 1 of each named character/unit etc. so for example only 1 person in your team can take advantage of using eEiryss.

You can ONLY use 1 version of a epic/non epic Character. For example if someone in your team has took eGaspy, someone else cannot take Gaspy.

These limits add a real new dynamic and a sense of team list building (and probably a lot of infighting on who gets eiryss :P) which is unique to our tournament.

You can have any mix of hordes/wm in your faction - 4 cygnar players, 2 cryx and 2 circle, whatever you want as long as you follow the named character rules above.

Its actually quite difficult to build lists using this system and end up with 4 'powerful' lists - its definately a fun process and over the next few weeks we at Team Octopii will be going through a 'what we would of took' to give you an insight in how to build an effective build - or what we think could be one :P

Sam is working furiously on the podcast, expect it very soon - hes also edited in some of the original musings before it got to its final state so should be an excellent listen :P

'What we would have took' Does that mean team Octosquid aren't entering?

As for list building, you'll not find a team with two Cygnar players in...........only 1 squire?????????????

Yeah as much as we would really really LOVE to play in this event we are not going to play to instead try and make sure this goes as well as it possibly can. So me, Rich Loxam and our local press ganger Adam Brown will be joining Gary to make up the events team on the day being referees. If we need him Tony Moore may also be refereeing on the day.

But yes we will be having another interview with GutsnGears in a few weeks time to show people what we could have taken had we played in the event as Team Octopii aka 'If Carlsberg made a wargaming team...' :P

@Hoolster - Squire is not a character model so no problem with duplication across lists.

My newest list actually features Laddermore! Her + Temporal Acceleration should do nasty things to infantry.
