Proposal for Scenario Vote

Postby ukrocky » Sun Jan 28, 2018 10:03 pm

Please find England's proposal for the scenario vote. We posted it in the 'Request for scenario / deployment vote options ' but it was deleted due to not being specific enough as they only want each team to present one option in that thread.

Our proposal is the vote is between 3 ways of determining the scenarios. In the case of 3 votes in any given question, give your order of preference from 1st to last, (Eg C>A>B), and in the case of no vote getting 50%, the least favourite option will have it's votes removed, and second votes will be allocated (Eg, C is the least favourite, so in the instance before, the example's vote would be changed to A).

1. How should pairings be decided?

A) Decided in Pairings
B) Randomised at the Table post-pairings
C) Decided by round

If 1A wins, then:

Both teams receive a set of pairing cards, with each scenario on, and use these for:

A) The active team places a scenario when placing down an army (Eg, in matchup 1, Team X places down Beast Herds with the mission Breakthrough, and Team Y put down Dwarven Holds with Hold the Centre)
B) The reactive team offers 2 objective cards when reacting with their 2 armies, the active team then choose 1 army, as usual, but also the scenario from the two proposed.

If 1B wins, then:
A) No Veto system, so random between the 6
B) A veto system where each player can veto one scenario then randomise between the other 4

If 1C wins, then:

A) All play same scenario. Each scenario is used once.
B) Round 1, first pairings play scenario 1, second pairings play scenario 2 and so on, akin to last years, but with the 4 scenarios rotating. Each scenario is used four times.
C) Round 1, matchups 1-4 use scenarios , and matchups 5-8 use scenario 2. Change scenarios per round and each scenario is used twice.

I really like 1.A.B. and 1.B.B., which seems to me as being the more strategic and fair because:
1) You have to play a balanced army, but you can still avoid some really bad scenario for your army, which seems to me the best option, as some armies get inherent difficulties with some scenario, and
2) you avoid extra specialised army lists, which is why senario were made for at the very beginning ^^.

I'm also fine with 1.C.B :)

I really don't see the interest of 1.C.A.

Question for 1.A.B
When the reactive team gives the scenario is this "paired" with the armies or is this another selection?
i.e Team A reaction gives BH + Hold the Ground and DE + Breakthrough - Team B chooses BH with Hold the Ground OR DE with Breakthrough
OR
i.e Team A reaction gives BH + DE and Hold the Ground and Breakthrough - Team B chooses BH or DE AND Hold the Ground or Breakthrough

Question for 1.B.B
Who veto first?

Veto simultaneously (meaning it could be randomised between 5 in reality).

And we realised both were possible, we'd suggest:

"Team A reaction gives BH + DE and Hold the Ground and Breakthrough - Team B chooses BH or DE AND Hold the Ground or Breakthrough"

This one, to stop certain armies being incredibly tailored for 1 scenario.

I have submitted Switzerland proposal, which is close to 2 of your proposals.
We prefer to let the responding team choose the objective, currently it is too easy to tailor a list for a specific objective and just throw that army at the correct time. Now with our pairing proposal, thrown armies have to be good at 2 objectives at least. It is more difficult to get optimal objective while responding since your opponent can refuse you.

That is the rational behind our proposal.
