Any gamers in the Weymouth/Dorchester Area

Postby Paulb » Fri Mar 25, 2011 4:47 pm

Any players out there in the Dorchester/Weymouth area. I live just outside of Dorch, and we used to have a group of 5 or so gamers, a few have moved or have work commitments now, so down to just the 2 of us.

I have my own gamesroom, with 2 8ft tables so plenty of room for battles.

40K or fantasy, and we have our own beer fridge!

Hi

I live in Weymouth, I've been going to Poole each Thursday which can get quite expensive so yeah it would be nice to find a second place to game more local. I don't drive so how easy is your place to get to using public transport?

I've mostly being play Warhammer at the mo although I do have lots of 40k stuff

I can grab you from Dorch Station no worries if that is easier( or from wherever if you are on a bus), I live just outside of Broadmayne. Public transport is as you prob know, not really an option.

PM me your email and we can arrange a game.

Jim, it was probably Scott you were talking to, he is friendly with all the new players like that!

Indeed the ever growing Black Sun contingent you will have seen are my children if you will!!!

I wasn't down tonight, but I'll be sure to say hello next time I do a Thursday. Of course it may be easier for you to find me amongst my boys. I am the one with the tattoos :)

If you ever fancy doing a tournament or anything in the future, it may be good for you integrate with my group a little (we are not as crazy as our net reputation, well not all the time). Nothing against the other guys who play in the store but they are very much your hobby gamers, not that there is anything wrong with that, they are all nice guys, and hey, casual hobby play may be all you're after anyway!!

Not to say that we are always super hardcore & playing tournament style, I myself am playing Beasts and Ogres currently!

Paul, would be nice to have a game at somepoint. Pretty busy next week, what with the SCGT and all :)

Hi just seen this thread [well the link to it from the 40k section]. I live in Stoford south of Yeovil 40k player for a long time and I play against Pete Bradley from Weymouth. We both have tables and terrain and do a fair amount of tournaments. Weekends are better for us due to work commitments but drop me a pm if interested in a game.
Steve
P.S away until next Tuesday due to work so could be a week before I respond sorry.

New to wargaming!

Well, not entirely true, my friend has brought me into the world of wargaming. He, an experienced wargamer, and I are looking for somewhere else to play. From reading the previous posts it sounds like a great number of you are in West Dorset.. We're based in Bournemouth but can travel for a lovely day out battling it out on the table. Doubles matches would be fantastic!

All but occupied before mid April but anyone who fancies a battle, feel free to get in touch! We also have a table but little terrain. I'll keep checking back to this forum.

Hi
I live in Dorchester, I have been playing the same opponent for 10 years now so we are both looking to find a club to join (preferably of an older generation so we can lament about how they don't make them like they used to and how crap finecast is).

I've been collecting, painting and selling for about 20 years now but what with only ever playing the same person I think our rules knowledge is very "in-house" so be kind to us! We play 40k but I have warhammer armies as well (just never played with them).

We both have games rooms with scenery aplenty, my scenery can travel as well - it was custom built and set me back £400 (ooppss - don't tell the wife) so hopefully we can bring something to the table of note other than dubious rules knowledge!

He runs:

10k points worth of tyranids (inc. a forgeworld Heirophant bio titan - ouch!)
2k Necrons
2k Chaos Marines

I have collected and painted (but sold on ebay) just about every army but I am currently working on:
2k Dark Angel pure infantry (65 marines!)
2k night lords with the lords being converted warhammer vampires and every model on a scenic base (the plan is that they are painted the same colour as the buildings on the base with just the eyes showing - it's all about the fear moo haha)

2k empire
2k dwarfs

We both also have Blood Bowl teams and Necromunda Gangs (his are cawdor, mine is Goliath, but I am also currently converting the chaos cultists from Dark Vengeance to play as Cawdor) - personally these are my favourite games :)

Also got Heroquest and Space Hulk (latest edition - 2 boxes for some reason)
