NWGC Stockport, UK - Anyone up for KoW2?

Postby PeteBradley » Wed Jul 29, 2015 1:29 pm

To the Stockport and surrounding area guys, anyone up for taking a serious look at KoW2?

I plan to get hold of the 2nd Ed rulebook and dust off my Dwarfs to give it a try.

With out of the box AoS rules looking (let's be generous) problematic in some areas, and the current 87 or so comp systems being suggested for it amounting to a train wreck currently imo, I thought I could do worse than to try and get on board with Plan B... might save me from having a bonfire I guess ;)

I have a couple of guys willing to give it a go, let me know if you're up for it

There's a KoW intro evening tonight at the NGWC as it happens.

https://www.facebook.com/events/814025518695583/

Bring down any current fantasy based army that you have and we will help you to construct a force worth of your command as well as creating an 800pt force that you can then use, on the night, to try our the latest version of the rules.

Additionally we will be bringing a couple of armies for people to have a go with if they want.

And Dan King no less? Not seen him for a few years - last time I saw him was when he was decimating me with Vamps :)

He moved on to decimating KoW players with whichever army he decides to turn up with

I'm not far away (Manchester) and would definitely be up for a few games. Might not be for a while though, on the last stretch of my degree and it's kind of taken over hobby time ;)

Hopefully we can make KoW at the NWGC a more regular thing. Tonight is a taster session but I would definitely be up for games there at some point.

We almost reached critical mass under v1 but I couldn't make it often enough due to health reasons.

I'm only an hour away from Stockport and have attended several fun WHF tournies there. Like many, I've read the KoW rules and like them, so I am building a few a KoW armies from my WHF armies. If someone could arrange a day for a very casual KoW 'tournament'/learn the game day (maybe 4 games of 1500 points each?) then I'd certainly be interested. Would only need 6-10 people to make it worth while (so long as someone has KoW experience already). I'd be happy to put up a small prize for a winner to encourage people to turn up. What do you think?

I'm just having a think about KoW and an army to put together, so it will be a while before I get to play. If however you guys are playing one evening post it up here and I'll have a watch of your game if that's ok.
I currently play Bolt Action every other Wednesday

Sure, I mostly play vs Jez who lives locally to me. (Macclesfield) But I'm happy travelling up to Stockport if someone fancies a game. :)

Would be good to get a practice game in for the Clash of Kings, the upcoming 2 day tournie being held early October. (2500 points)

Not that I know of as yet. I'm hopeful there will be some next year, Tim the events organiser from Mantic is changing jobs to to be the events organiser up there at Element Games. He's a big KoW fan.
