SPECIAL RULES

ARMED TO THE TEETH
At the start of each combat, a unit with this special rule can choose to fight either with a single weapon and shield, two hand weapons or with a great weapon.

BACK OF THE WEDGE
Models with this special rule ignore friendly units for Line of Sight.

GOTLANDIC ARCHERY
Shooting attacks made by models with this special rule have the Armor Piercing special rule.

INVULNERABILITY
Models with this rule have a ward save as stated in their unit entry.

JOMSVIKING
Units with this special rule may only be joined by characters who also have this special rule.

MADDENING ROAR
Sibilja is considered a Level 2 Wizard who knows the spells Treachery of Loki and Curse of Odin.

PAGAN PRIEST
When a model with this special rule rolls on the Miscast Table, you may choose an effect one stop higher or lower than the rolled result.

RAIDER FORMATION
Units with this special rule gain the Skirmishers rule while not in close combat.

ROYAL BLOOD
Units including a model with this special rule may re-roll failed Panic tests.

ROYAL GUARD
Units with this special rule have the Hatred special while they are joined by a character with the Royal Blood special rule.

SHIELD MAIDEN
A model with this special rule cannot be your army General. Furthermore, other models can never use her Leadership value.

SHIELD WALL
Models with this special rule receive a +1 bonus to any Parry save they are eligible to take unless they charge. Lone models do not benefit from this.

SUOMONESKO
Characters with this special rule may only join units who also have this special rule.

SUOMONESKO SORCERY
Once per game, when a model with this special rule is declared the target of a charge, you may place a single piece of ordinary hill terrain between the two units. The charge automatically fails, a charge reaction may still be made.

THICK SKIN
Models with this special rule have a 5+ Scaly Skin save.

VALHALLA AWAITS
Wounds taken by models with this special rule do not count for combat resolution.

WISDOM AND COURAGE
Vikingr and Archers units within 6” of units with this special rule may re-roll failed Panic tests.

Looks like something for Warhammer Ancient Battles.
I do respect your opinions even when I do not state so, we are all free to disagree and agree here. And I certainly do not assume that my ideas about the rules would be the only proper ones. We all have our own ways for playing these games and that is fine.

Yeah, that... Where is Finland and Gotland in the Warhammer world? :p

Kudos for not making it overpowered though, like is the common trapfall of the homebrew list. "Valhalla awaits" is an interesting rule, as a concept, possibly might be too strong, but interesting.

I can't really see how this is going to fit in to warhammer.

Years back, harlequin did some lord of the rings style lists for wab.
Struck me at the time that very low magic gaming might be interesting fantasy.
Many fantasy backgrounds have pretty low powered magic.

I think i would use wotr as a basis rather than wfb though.
Design 5 or 6 lists and experiment.
Players are more open to experimemting with systems they don't routinely play.
