I'll join. All kinds of health issues have meant not much painting from me, but hopefully that will change. Bought some Ogors, and going to try some 30K

At my club we are in the 2nd year of campaigns with over 30+ people playing KoW in a 1500pt league. We use chess clocks too which is a fun addition to the game.

Using my oldhammer undead has been a blast

Interesting D-Weapon Seriously Wounded: The model suffers a hit that wounds automatically and causes it to lose D3 Wounds instead of 1. Deathblow: The model suffers a hit that wounds automatically and causes it to lose D6+6 Wounds instead of 1. No saves of any kind are allowed against this hit. Nigh...

Re: So I read White Dwarf..

Nah Reaper make minis for D&D and Avatars blantantly make minis for Warhammer armies at least initially. I don't think they would be as successful if they were in a different scale for example. Interestingly, Reaper was the name for the pre warhammer game, was only for a few figures if I recall...

Re: Fantasy vs 40k

Huh. Is that the path Fantasy is taking, I wonder? Quite possible. Its easy for them to make a whole new army by adding a handful of units and making them a branch of a main faction (e.g. Cult of Slaanesh). indeed and I do think this will be the way it will be. In fact, I can see regiments of renow...

Re: Fantasy vs 40k

Isn't that just a transport for one faction though? It seems only Psykers help the assault stuff on the field- units like Howling Banshees and Striking Scorpions still have no place, or...? What about Harlequins? I'd really like to play an army of Howling Banshees, they and Striking Scorpions are c...

Re: Fantasy vs 40k

How do you need to be more mobile, though? How are the objectives different? When I used my Eldar I wanted to play really bad with Striking Scorpions, but they were always a bit meeehh. Could they be nice now? They're not really fit for transports as far as I know, and I guess an Eldar army would p...

Re: Fantasy vs 40k

What did they do in 7th that helps assault armies though? I've not heard of anything like that? I stopped playing in 6th, and assault armies there were unusual because shooting was king. Just the fact that you need to be more mobile to secure objectives helps. This. and play with lots of LOS blocki...

Re: Fantasy vs 40k

Just my opinion... I've played fantasy since first edition, yes I'm old. 8th edition does nothing for me after trying many times to get into it and I'm a fantasy type of gamer. Honestly, in my local gaming group we have gone from 20 to 30 players to nothing, we have more KoW players than fantasy. I'...

Hannibal and the Punic wars book was one of my favorites.

I knew him and was sad to hear of his passing last year. I met him when he came to Salute years back and we corresponded via email a few times about toy soldiers.

The rules as a single book is small format.

My tired old eyes can't take the small print so I have the large book (set of 3). the set its self has the rules in 1 book, fluff book, and pretty pictures book.
