Re: AoS turned the corner...?

I don't play (or paint, or read the books) so I'm not really sure what the big deal is about the change in the rules other than the game has been simplified/dumbed-down, but I am dissappointed by the look of AOS. Age of Sigmar is fugly . There, I said it. I don't like the new models. Yes some of the...

Re: 2015 Mini exchange

Uhhh... How do I put this? I'm still working on on my 2014 miniature for Zuzu. Learning to sculpt is taking a bit longer that I had anticipated. I hope you have at least contacted the recipient? Yep, about three times. He said he didn't mind waiting.. probably not quite this long though.

Oh, yep sorry, you're right. But most of the minis on the website are by the Perrys.

Kind of random, but Perry Miniatures sell old Citadel minis.

I was clicking around on the Perry Miniatures website (the Perry brothers are amazing aren't they?) and I noticed they still cast a bunch of 1980's Citadel Miniatures. I don't know, but maybe they're of interest to the few people who still collect Bretonnians. http://www.wargamesfoundry.com/our-rang...

Re: Space Marine PC game - anyone know how to use the controls?

I have over 80 hours logged in it and played the multiplayer quite competitively for a while. The controls are no more or less irritating when compared to any third person shooter. Sounds like you have just a general issue with that type of controls. You use wasd to move and mouse to look. You turn...

Space Marine PC game - anyone know how to use the controls?

I'm not a fan - in fact I'm not a fan of first-person-shooters in general - but it was £5 so I picked it up. Looks good but the controls are driving me nuts; I can't figure out how to turn around except by using the mouse and half the time I end up looking at the guy's shoulder-pad as he gets backed...

PuppetWars do some ever-so-slightly looky-likey sci-fi motorcycles: http://puppetswar.eu/product.php?id_product=206
They are reasonably priced but I think they're resin so don't expect nice fit-first-time flawless plastic.

Are miniatures as fun as they used to be?

Modern miniatures generally speaking are infinitely more detailed and realistic than in the old days - though for some of us the old days means the 1980's rather than the 90's.. or 2000's come to think of it. This is a topic that came up a couple of years ago so there is already a thread about it so...

It sounds like you're trying to fit something into Warhammer that just.. isn't Warhammer

I say play it 1980's style. back in the early days it was basically D&D by another name.

Not much you can do about mould lines except scrape, scrape, scrape. But if you're having trouble with getting the arms on Mantic Ogres to fit the way you want them to, use a tiny little bit of greenstuff to bulk out the join.

Re: Wood Elves: Alternative plastic Warhawk Riders?

Beware of GameZone miniatures, the average GZ miniature is like a bad GW Finecast miniature. They do indeed look fabulous, but they are awkward to build and require some modeling skill to remove flash lines, fill in pitting and fill joint gaps.

Re: painting 40K scenery

The purpose of primer is to give the surface something for paint to key to. Primer has a slightly rough finish whereas normal paint doesn't. Terrain does not need good quality paint for a base coat so use the cheapest spray paint you can find. Tip: Keep your eyes open for Army Issue paint, there's a...

Re: Cutting plasicard?

First thing you'll need is a pen or pencil that will leave a mark on the plastic that doesn't wipe off straight away. Score out the lines, don't try to cut straight through them, then bend the plastic card to break the score-lines. If the score lines are deep enough the score lines will give way and...

Use a tiny amount, use the smallest amount you think you need; now halve it, and then halve it again.

Re: New citadel tools from GW.

Style over substance; yes it is, but you've got to appreciate how smart GW are. They know that what sells in their stores are shiny flashy things. People do like to show off how cool their tools are, and even people who ought to know better will probably end up buying something just because it's on ...

Re: Priming Plastic

I've never tried it, but I suspect if the plastic was brushed with something mildly abrasive like a suede brush it would allow the paint to key to it. But then it's probably just as quick to give them a light coating of primer.

I recognize it, but I can't place it. It's not a Brother Vinni miniature, I might have seen it on Reaper or Hasslefree. Anything on the base?

Micro pens work very well but if you don't spray a fixative over the ink it will rub off in two seconds flat.

Turns out the package was for my son, so it wasn't my mini after all! On the plus side, I've just got to finish the base now and mine will be ready to send. It's been interesting trying to paint some cleaner colours, and not hiding a multitude of sins beneath a layer of Devlan Mud like I do with my...
