Re: Mats 2018

I'm totally for playing on neoprene - will look into solutions with orga during mettings for sure. Asking each team to bring their mats would be problematic for several reasons: - most of them will travel by Wizz/Ryanair and it would mean additional cost - handling then during tournament - who is r...

Re: Mats 2018

Each team bringing 3 sounds like a great solution. =D> Between 6 players surely there are 3 playmats. Even if they "have to" buy one before coming to the tournament. There should be no worries about lost property as you can easily roll these up after each game and keep them on you between ...

Of these three great weapon wielding units, which one stands out as a visually different one?

So, these green grasshoppers are Mournfang cavalry, but that slightly bigger and brown grasshopper is obviously Thundertusk. The small tiny ones are OBVIOUSLY gnoblars.

Re: Totally OT- Superglue incident.

Tip for the superglue: use gel. It's MUCH less prone to accidental spillage, and it won't get all over your model. Also combine it with small amounts of greenstuff for instant and permanent solution.

3. Now that there are genuinely mechanical flyers (and not merely gliders like Terradons or whatever), it makes less sense than ever that they could be engaged in close combat. How would troops on the battlefield ever swing at a helicopter? I mean, I won't lose sleep over it, but my suspension of d...

Re: Those Swordmasters and what to do...

You shouldn't compare Swordmasters to White lions, they have different uses. White lions are by far superior to T4 and well armoured foes (for example Demigriffs), while Swordmasters are by far superior against lightly armoured T3 opponents. Having said that, what I would take in the list is whateve...

Re: Games Workshop Stock in Freefall...

Really? Wotc make the occasional figures games, they see owned by Hasbro, could be a useful licence for them at least. Who makes Heroclix? They would find the licence useful too. Almost makes me wish I had the budget. Wotc overseeing Geedubya would be all kinds of awesome. My point was that GW owns...

Re: Games Workshop Stock in Freefall...

For those of you worried about companies like Hasbro being too scared to buy Geedubya I point you back to Disney buying Marvel. The big entertainment companies have money for the right products. I would suspect the warhammer and 40k franchises count as the right properties. The lotr licence may wel...

Re: Sniping at Second Rank?

The flaw in this argument is that the front ranks will do just fine for regular shooting. That doesn't matter the least since you're not shooting at the front rank, you're shooting at the unit. And the unit has more than half of it's models "in cover" (behind other models in the same unit...

I should disclaimer that I've not actually tried the High frog, though I've been in close discussion with friends who have done so and hence feel I have some input here. To my money, if choosing between the two, I'd pick Wandering Deliberations. Lizards need threat in the early game to force their ...

Re: Advice for a Slannless list

Yeah, -2 to cast is nice, but will only work on beasts, cav and monsters (and derivatives) The only reason I'm considering not taking a slann is dual Oldblood setup. You can have 2 Oldbloods (on cold ones) who can be configured to be either unkillable or unbreakable, or a bit of both. Add a carno sc...

Re: Ripperdactyl riders

Haven't tried them out (yet), but here's what I think of them: 1. They have nice combat potential with the frog bonus. The thing is, with only one unit, you are telephoning your target away and the opponent will be able to react. This can be used both ways, you can make him act differently (worse?) ...
