Re: New Space Marine player
For some reason this forum has been dying a slow death for the past couple of years, people don't seem to be posting here as frequently as they once did. The rise of various facebook groups I think is responsible, at least partly. There are several FB groups dedicated to different aspects of marines...

Depends how far you're willing to travel. I'm part of the Ribble Warriors and we meet in Preston, around 30 minutes travel.

Not particularly cheap but cheaper than sourcing bits from Ebay etc. They're good quality though.

I have a few games of BA under my belt and recently had another go which rekindled my interest. I notice there's not much chat about it on here. Any reason(s) for that?

Re: Tau Riptidewing vs. Piranhaspam
The Piranhas get similar shooting bonuses and can go off board and come back with missing hull points repaired and rearmed with drones and stuff. Seen it played a couple of times at our club. The Tau player ended up with 40-odd drones on the table. The only reason there wasn't more was because he r...

Re: Imperial space marine 30 year anniversary model advise
I've been asking a similar question on another forum, ie what to do with the model. I don't think he fits in a 'modern' marine squad but as a kind of relic suit of armour for an honoured veteran it might work. Painting him up in the original legion colours sounds like a cool idea to me. Also, the we...

Re: 40K and army choices/supplements?
Can you actually be competitive in a tournament if you don't use or have access to the Forgeworld Publications? Depends on the parent codex. Marines, Eldar and Tau certainly don't need any FW help but some of the models are cool as. Chaos marines however... A mate of mine who plays chaos marines ha...

Re: Hi all new SM player here
The Angels of Death supplement (the latest release, book wise, for marines) gathers together formations from various sources (campaign books etc) in one reference work. These aren't in the codex, they're extras if you like. As usual, some good, some bad. There's also some new rules and new psychic p...

Re: Hi all new SM player here
Formations are groups of units drawn from a given codex. Some of them have restrictions but all come with command benefits of greater or lesser use. For instance 'Strike Force Ultra' is a formation of terminator units, 'Stormwing' is fliers. All up to date codex' have a few. You still make up the un...

Re: Hi all new SM player here
The formations in the Angels of Death supplement have a brief fluff history regarding the chapter that first developed and implemented their use but they are now available to any force based around codex - space marines. So yes, you could have a White Scars themed force in another colour scheme, as ...

Re: GET READY TO RUMBLE !!! 20/21 AUGUST 2016
Rules packs will be finalised soon but we are leaning towards an escalation type weekend ie rising points values over the course of the games. We are also, more than likely, allowing FW but probably in a limited fashion.

Re: Blackadder's Scratchbuilt Thunderhawk
Most notably the Iron Hands chapter. They have a great affinity for all things mechanical. They're also an original marine legion so it's quite possible that your chapter is a descendant of them in your back story, if you come up with one.

Re: Blackadder's Scratchbuilt Thunderhawk
Whilst there are several marine chapters that sport green colour schemes of various hues and combos, the general concept of marines is that they are futuristic warrior monks/knights. Consequently some of them have quite garish heraldic colour schemes. With few exceptions, marines don't do camo. They...

Re: Space Marine Command Squads
As always it depends on what the rest of your army does. Having said that, probably the best and therefore most popular is a bike mounted squad with grav guns and a couple of storm shields. Expensive but effective. Bikes being relentless means you get the best out of your grav guns plus mobility and...

Re: Venerable Dreadnought Builds and Tactics?
The problem with dreads was always their vulnerability, even venerable dreads. One decent shot and BAM! You're gone. If you're willing to invest the points (not forgetting cash), I think a dreadnought talon (a squadron of 2 or 3) would be quite durable. This would limit their use to a shooty unit as...

Re: Blackadder's Scratchbuilt Thunderhawk
Hardwired servitor style pilots. But then that seems a bit extreme for a marine, even one on punishment. Perhaps they're actually standing up with their legs going through some sort of anchor point with their feet controlling something we can't see.

Re: Khorne Daemonkin
You can use the a normal CAD without any problems. In fact, a CAD has some advantages over most of the formations in the book in that all the units are available to you whereas the formations are quite restricted in the units available to them. For instance, a heldrake (still a powerful unit despite...
