Only one day to go! Don't forget to bring along models for the painting competition we run at the CC. There are four categories to enter: single model, squad/team, large model, and open. Its always nice to have a good range of models and I am looking forward to seeing what people bring. Safe travel ...

Re: 2014 WPS Club Challenge – 31 May / 1 June

I technically haven't dropped from h/wm. Due to the system dropping to 7 players and blood bowl being on 7 players I have been moved to blood bowl. I'd offered weeks ago if worst came to the worst. It is a shame, I'd rather be playing h/Wm and the fact it had 3 of us and 3 of you. Proper club chall...

Re: 2014 WPS Club Challenge – 31 May / 1 June

Is there any reason why we cannot just drop the 3 system requirement to 2? It seems with a lack of teams it may help spice up what is in effect 4 small tournaments running at the same time. We considered this, but the scoring system we have for this year (using third quartiles etc.) does slightly b...

Army lists are held by the system ref's - I only have the overall data to do the draw with.

I will remind them and see, but you may just have to wait and see on the day what the army breakdown is.

Re: 2014 WPS Club Challenge – 31 May / 1 June

I don't want to sound like I'm kicking up a fuss, but what's happened to Warmachine? I understand there is isn't the best turn out, but our 3 Warmachine players have now paid £35 to play 5 games this weekend, but 2 will be against the people we play at our club nights every week. Is there no chance...

Re: 2014 WPS Club Challenge – 31 May / 1 June

Ok, so the round 1 Draws have been done (see below). Firstly a quick note on teams, as due to a late drop out, the NWGC currently do not have an eligible team for the overall Challenge shield, as while they have five players, they are only in two systems. However, in the interests of trying to let t...

Hi all, just a request to let us know if you are capable of playing in more than one system. We are hoping to find some spare players for the various systems on the weekend, but just in case (given that a few of our systems are currently odd-numbered), it would be hugely helpful to us to if any play...

Depending on how bright you want him, I would agree with the just lining the joints appraoch. I would suggest spraying the model a crisp white (with a couple of coats to get an even consistent finish) then use a blue-tinted colour to shade the joints. (GW's Drakenhof Nighshade painted neatly into re...

Re: Close combat in 6th - it does exist (a short-ish batrep)

Yep,the rule states that the effect lasts for the rest of the turn (note, not player turn). In the right circumstances it would be possible to have a 4+ save in the enemy shooting phase. I think the rulebook states that 'turn' is defined as a player turn, so unless it explcitely states game turn an...

Re: Best army voting - a new way.

Interesting idea... but I think it would create a very elitist feel and could make players feel excluded. I think any system needs to include all players if it can. Not saying the general 'everyone votes' system is perfect, it isn't - but it seems the generally best option for most occasions. I like...

Just to update on this post I made a few weeks back, as we have not had any responses to help so far. We will not be able to properly run the event with a ...

Re: advice on armies on parade

My own hunch (from seeing what has won over the last few years) and from my knowledge of what my friend Jay did (who won in the first year) is that the most important thing to have is a big eye-catching display board. Ideally one that uses all three dimensions and has a good bit of vertical height t...

WPS Club Challenge in 2014 and new committee members

The Warhammer Players Society (WPS) is looking for volunteers to join the committee. For those of you who are not aware, the WPS was founded many years ago as a platform for promoting the hobby, primarily though the running of events. The best known of these events is the Club Challenge, where gamer...

Testors Dullcote is still the best available - even the new brand stuff. I have sprayed lots of models and armies with the new stuff since they changed the fomrula - and its still just as good as far as I am concerned and better than any alternatives on the market. Whatever you choose to use just do...

Cancellation of the 2013 Club Challenge Given the low attendance that we currently have after many people have understandably had to withdraw, and with no additional entrants to replace them, it does not look feasible for us to run the Club Challenge in 2013, and so we are sadly going to have to ca...

Just to let players know, we are reducing the minimum team size requirements from 7 players down to 5 players. We did this a couple of years ago when we were in Nottingham and it seemed to work ok. Given the venue issues we have had, we thought it would be helpful to reduce the minimum sizes to make...

Re: WPS Club Challenge 2013 - Entrants & Event Info - 25/26 May

Ok guys, we can confirm that after the closure of Maunsfeld Gaming we WILL be running the Club Challenge this year in 2013, though we have had to make a big change of venue to BRISTOL. The 2013 Club Challenge will therefore be happening on 25 & 26 May at the OASIS ACADEMY BRIGHTSTOWE in BRISTOL....
