Re: Dave's 2016 Paint Blog

Thanks. The marines were really straightforward. It was airbrushed a chainmail/steel colour (Vallejo model air range) hen repeated washes of a mix of coelia greenshade and guiliman blue glaze (both GW).

The giant is mierce, part of their albainn range called gomagg.

Re: Chaos army of not cool.

Agree, those knights look like they have some wow. The pic isn't showing off the detail well but can see the freehand filigree on the armour, would love to see a clearer pic. How did you glue the pins, superglue or epoxy glue? If it's superglue it should be quite brittle so it's actually possible to...

Re: Chaos army of not cool.

Don't know why you're saying it's not cool, those are good looking paintjobs. If you're after advice I'd say consider doing something more with the bases, dunno if you've intentionally photoshopped them out or if they are just plain white but they don't support the paintjobs at all. Also for an army...

Re: Impact of Generals Book and other AoS based questions....

Yeah, a more clear structure does indeed make the game more accessible than leaving all of it up to the players. GH would only complicate things for the very youngest of players who would not understand the calculations & additional rules, though this group would not likely understand much of t...

I agree there is no value to arguing with you. Equally I feel my viewpoint is as valuable to be heard as any other, I'm not here to say you're wrong, I'm here to say different viewpoints exist.

Politely if I want to keep making noise on the internet I'm going to, please don't tell me to stop.

Re: Can you build units wrong?

If you plan on playing games with your models, always look at the rules first. Then assemble your unit, based on those rules. This is the smartest way to go about it. Many of the boxes have duplicate/optional parts that might not even be intended to be used at all, and you can indeed build your uni...

I stand by my opinion that AoS is not a great system for grand scale battles, and with those I mean battles. Yeah I get that this is what you think, I'm just curious as to why you think it. What combination of theory and/or experience led you to hold this opinion? It's a ball-ache to move 100s of i...

Everyone is entitled to their views and all that. Fiend's views seem to think it's all becoming a bit 40k for his tastes, personally I don't see it. If anything I feel its more WMH (but unlike WMH I like the model design) in that it's high fantasy with trees with whacking great swords & bows rat...

Re: Issues with the new point system

nothing requires the unit to be armed the same. I'm pretty sure all models in the unit must be armed the same way, unless there's an exception, for example, A unit of Longbeards has 10 or more models. Some units of Longbeards wield treasured Ancestral Axes or Ancestral Hammers. Other units prefer t...

Re: Issues with the new point system

Magnetizing is not about being desperate to be competitive, it is about saving money. I never needed to buy another four Mournfangs in order to have a backup unit with great weapons. With the Stormfiends, you would need to buy three times as much models just to be able to field a unit which can cho...

Re: Issues with the new point system

If you want to be really competitive then just magnetise the options so you can change with the meta :p The feasibility of that depends on how complex the options are to assemble. I magnetised my Ogre Mournfangs quite easily since their options were attached to their hands only, so that required ma...

Is it likely to be received negatively if I were to take them to events? Anyone who is openly judgmental about your army's colour scheme is a tool, and their hypothetical views should not be taken into account in any way. Luckily I doubt you'll encounter many people with this attitude in the AoS co...

Re: What could make the new AOS rules flop?

It the points were horrendously unbalanced and not updated.

If people go back to 4-8ed mentality that points & game size is set in stone and not be flexible to new scenarios & tweaking the game.

Mostly it comes down to people's attitudes.

Pistols are way overpowered. If you use the Kings command ability and are shooting a unit with more than one wound (most units in the game now) you hit on 2+ and auto wound. I'd make them 4+ 4+ and the slayer oath only work in combat. Axes should also probably be 4+ 4+ for similar reasons. Handguns...

Archaon's command ability basically lets all your other generals use their command ability as well, so having a khorne army with a few generals in pay's off by the looks of it, also was the blood thirster you're thinking of Skarbrand? I was thinking of one of the 'regular' ones, on looking it's the...
